History -Hector Finch started dealing in lights in 1993 and has lighting in his blood... in 1882 his great grandfather founded Hayes & Finch, today the UK's leading ecclesiastical candle makers and still a family firm. After dealing in the North of England for a few years, Hector acquired his first shop in Chiswick. Within two years Hector had outgrown the premises and moved to the current shop in Fulham. His passion for his subject soon filled the new shop with a huge variety of lighting including many pieces from the period covering the heyday of lighting design 1890 - 1930 and the early English makers of electric lighting such as Faraday, Osler and Best & Lloyd. Hector's penchant for engineering, his eye for quality and design and his unusual photographic memory have all been utilised in the development of his unique business - he still offers a highly personal service to his clients, many of whom have been coming to him since he first started. The Business - The business has developed in a new direction over the last few years and much of it now focuses on our exclusive collection, designed by Hector Finch, plus other lines represented here. In addition, Hector Finch Lighting (US) Ltd was started in 2003 to deal with an increasing volume of American trade. In 1997, Hector's wife Emma joined the business as a partner and became responsible for developing the administration systems that were necessary for the rapidly expanding business to run efficiently. Today, the business continues to grow whilst still maintaining the passion and personal touch which has been key to its success. This website is the culmination of nearly 20 year's experience of dealing in antique and decorative lighting. During this time we have catered for a private and interior decorator clientele and amassed a broad knowledge of the market and of what people need for their homes and schemes. The Products - Hector's aesthetic has always been very clear: that the light fittings should be classically simple and beautiful but also functional and practical. Here he presents his personally selected designs that can be used in a myriad of settings: classic, traditional, modern, interior or exterior for both residential and commercial environments.
